My name is Angela Burgess. I am a former high school French teacher (14 years) who also spent time as an English Lit teacher. Now, I am an Instructional Technology Specialist at Lambert High School in Forsyth County Schools, Georgia. I am also a Google Certified Educator: Level 2 who is passionate about learning new ways to accomplish my goals and making technology as much a part of school as it is in our daily lives. That includes knowing and teaching that everything has a time and place, that technology is not a panacea for all of your education woes, and that being a responsible digital citizen is vital to your future.
I graduated from Marietta High School in Marietta, GA in June 1995, Young Harris College in Young Harris, GA in May 1997 with an Associate of Arts, the University of Georgia in Athens, GA in May 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in French Education, and Kennesaw State University with a Masters of Education in Instructional Technology in May 2014. I began pursuing my Educational Doctorate in Spring 2017 in Curriculum and Instruction, with a specialization in Educational Technology. I commenced my career in education with Forsyth County Schools at South Forsyth High School in Fall 2000 as a French teacher. In Fall 2009, I was part of the opening staff at Lambert High School. Throughout my time in FCS (the only system where I've taught), I have taught French 1-6, AP French Language & Culture, International Baccalaureate French B Standard Level and Higher Level, 10th Grade Literature & Composition; worked as an Assistant Testing Coordinator and SAT Site Supervisor; and served as Creative Director to two student-led dance companies.
I have one son with 2 legs, two with 4 legs, and a husband who mostly acts like their little brother. In my free time, I love to read, run, and travel. Favorite book series include Harry Potter, Outlander, and A Song of Fire and Ice (more commonly known as Game of Thrones). I've run 6 half-marathons, but am currently so far out of training that I wonder if I could successfully run a 5k. Travel to me is one of the meanings of life and one of the reasons why I work.
